Hive Sessions

The founder, Lisa Holdener, will be the teacher for all sessions.

All sessions will take place at the Hive and in the learning center. The learning center is placed in the front of the hive and can be viewed through the front window. Students will only be allowed in this visible area.

If your child becomes ill and will not be in attendance for the day's tutoring session, please contact Happy Hive Tutoring at least two hours prior to their session beginning. If you give advance notice, you will be able to make-up your session at another time. If you do not contact the center before your child's scheduled session, they will not be able to make-up the session.

Happy Hive Tutoring will make every attempt to work with you on scheduling your tutoring sessions around your vacation. We require at least 7 days advance notice and all sessions can be placed on hold and will resume when you return.

Yes, on the first day of tutoring sessions, your child will complete an age-appropriate pre-assessment. If you child is 4 or 5 years of age, the assessment will include letter identification and letter sounds, possibly blending. If your child is 6 or 7 years old, the pre-assessment will include capital and lowercase letter identification, letter sounds, short vowel sounds, CVC word blending, digraphs, blends, etc. The difficulty of the decoding skills tested will increase as they demonstrate mastery in the previous skill.

Absolutely. I will provide you with the results of each pre and post assessment given. The assessments that I use are also used in local schools. They will know how to read and make sense of the data on the assessment.
